Hi! If you’re having problems listening to Sites Collide, this is the RIGHT place to start. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, please email feedback@sitescollide.com
0. Q: How do I listen to Sites Collide?
A: There are lots of ways of doing it, but since you asked, we’re going to assume you’re looking for the SIMPLE answer. So, the easiest way is to click the “iTunes SUBSCRIBE” button from the “Podcast” page.
1. Q: What audio format is Sites Collide in?
A: Sites Collide is now available from one feed. The primary feed is in MP3 format.
For the technical folks, our MP3 files are 56 kbps/24 kHz Mono. This should be great for our listeners. The radio version is industry-standard 44.1 kHz PCM audio and is available ONLY to authorized media distribution outlets and radio affiliates.
2. Q: What kind of “player” or software do I need on my computer? Mine is NOT working!
A: For Windows and Mac, we recommend the most recent version of iTunes with QuickTime (download here), although there are lots of other alternatives that may work, in our experience, iTunes has been by far the easiest to allow you to subscribe and automatically get the newest shows.
3. Q: This doesn’t seem to play on Linux or BSD!
A: The show files are simple MP3’s and have been tested and play on several variants of Linux and BSD via the Open-Source VLC Player (download here).
4. Q: I can’t download the newest episode of Sites Collide! What’s Wrong?
A: Unless there are unforeseen problems, new episodes are uploaded at or before 20:00 GMT every Wednesday. At or around that time, demand may be high when a show is first released. Please try again later. If it still doesn’t work, then PLEASE send us an email. ;-)
5. Q: Why should I subscribe? Can’t I just download the files and listen on my own?
A: Yes, certainly feel free to download, copy, or sync the files on your own, but for those that want to spend time listening to the show instead of copying files, etc. then we recommend subscribing via iTunes so that new shows will be downloaded for you automatically. This happens whenever you open iTunes. In other words, iTunes does the work for you! :-)
6. Q: I decided to manually download the show anyhow. How do I get the files?
A: If you MUST download the files manually, look for the link at the below the description of each show labeled ”Direct Download HERE” - Click it and download. Another way of do it is to click the “RSS Subscribe” button at the top of the “Podcast” page. From the new page that opens up, you should right-click and choose “Save As” on each file you want to download. Then it’s up to you to listen to them in a player. It makes iTunes look like a MUCH SIMPLER solution after doing it this way (in our humble opinion).
7. Q: Is this program Copyrighted? How may I use it?
A: The show name, logos, images, media, audio files, etc. are all copyrighted by Tyrel McMahan and Aperta Media. HOWEVER, This program may be copied or distributed in a not-for-profit manner, for personal use. Of course, small portions may be used by anyone under “Fair Use” as long as the material is credited to “SitesCollide.com with host Tyrel McMahan”. Although, re-broadcast of the show in a for-profit display, transmission, or distribution is only allowed under direct, written permission from Tyrel McMahan or another authorized agent of Sites Collide. If you’re not sure, just contact us directly via email: radio@sitescollide.com .

A: The feeds to subscribe via RSS or iTunes are listed below:

iTMS (iTunes Music Store) - http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=252238945&s=143444
9. Q: Why do you have banner ads?
A: We are VERY reluctant to do this and are looking for a way to raise money in other ways and get rid of them.
We’re always open to feedback. If you find anything useful that is NOT here, not clear, or just plain doesn’t work, please let us know! :-)
Tyrel
